Linden area man arrested and jailed after high-speed chase

A 31-year-old Linden area man faces charges for taking South Williamsport police on a brief high-speed pursuit that ended when the officer determined it was too dangerous to pursue the motorist, according to court records.

The officer knew the driver, Danny Leroy Weaver, of 43 Harvest Moon Park, was wanted on several warrants for his arrest when he spotted him behind the wheel in the 300 block of Market Street about 6 a.m. on June 6.

Weaver dodged the officer by traveling at high speeds in several alleys, police said..

Weaver bailed out of his Subaru Legacy, which was located in the 300 block of Cardinal Alley, but he was soon nabbed by a sheriff’s deputy several blocks north at West Second Avenue and Curtin Street, police said.

Automatically placed in the Lycoming County Prison on a bench warrant, Weaver has since been charged by borough police with fleeing police and reckless driving. Initially recommitted in lieu of $10,000 bail, he has since been released.
