Man accused of holding girfriend’s head under water

WATERVILLE – A recreational outing on Pine Creek turned violent Saturday afternoon when a man pushed his girlfriend under the water during an argument while they were in inner tubes, according to state police.

David Kyle Hodges, 24, of 100 Ramsey Drive, allegedly held Hayley Elizabeth Rupakus under the water until the two were separated by mutual friends. The woman left the water and walked back to a home on Route 44 to lay down, police were told.

However, Hodges returned to the house and allegedly assaulted Rupakus by grabbing her by the throat, pulling her hair and dragging her on the ground, police were told.

Rupakus blacked out after Hodges banged her head on the ground, police were told. No information was available on whether she needed medical attention.

Charged with simple assault and harassment, Hodges was arraigned before District Judge James Carn and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
