Man accused of stealing inflatable water park

WELLSBORO – A 63-year-old man is accused of a stealing a package containing a portable, inflatable water park from the front porch of a Gaines Township resident in early June, according to Gaines Township police.

Robert T. Edinger, whose address was not given, allegedly stole the water park and tried to sell it to a woman in Sweden Township, Potter County, according to an affidavit.

Police were alerted to the incident when the victim reported that he saw the package had been delivered to his front porch before he had returned to work on June 4, but when the victim’s wife came home later that day, the package no longer was there, according to court papers.

The Potter County woman told police that Edinger claimed the package had fallen off a truck on the roadway. When the woman tried to read the shipping label on the box, Edinger took it from her, the affidavit said.

Following his recent arraignment before District Judge James E. Carlson on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest, Edinger was committed to Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $2,500 bail, but later was released.
