Man allegedly abandons injured dog

Timothy A. Lattin, 55, of 75 Cresmont St., Cogan Station, has been charged with cruelty to animals for allegedly abandoning his injured beagle, Olga, in his car after he crashed at Beautys Run and Almost Country roads in Lycoming Township on May 19, according to the local chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals.

Lattin bolted from the scene, leaving the dog in the vehicle, which had struck an embankment.

“There were shards of glass throughout the dog’s fur coat and there was a bleeding cut on the top of its head,” an investigator wrote in an affidavit.

The SPCA took possession of the dog and treated its wounds.

Lattin recently waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
