Man allegedly provided drugs to minors

WELLSBORO – A 20-year-old man faces charges for allegedly possessing marijuana and providing it to three minors on June 17, according to court documents filed at the office of District Judge Robert L. Repard.

When officers from the state Game Commission were patrolling an area at the intersection of Route 287 and Lundquist Hill Road, they discovered four individuals sitting on a log in the woods some distance off the roadway, according to an affidavit. The officers soon identified the individuals as Derek S. Sherman, 20, of 9 Cone St., two 17-year-old individuals and a 16-year-old.

Further investigation revealed that the four allegedly had been smoking marijuana and that Sherman allegedly had provided it, including a “large glass bong that appeared to be freshly smoked,” court papers said.

Sherman was sent a summons to appear before District Judge Robert L. Repard for a preliminary hearing to face the charges against him, which are, corruption of minors, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
