Man arrested for illegal possession of firearms

A man was arrested by Old Lycoming Township Police on weapons charges Sunday.

Eddie Johnson Jr., 28, was found to be in illegal possession of three firearms after police came to his residence at 1955 Lycoming Creek Road following a report of a theft at a nearby residence.

Police used a search warrant to enter Johnson’s camper, where they found him with two rifles and a shotgun, according to an affidavit.

As a previously convicted felon, Johnson was prohibited from being in possession of firearms, police noted.

Johnson was arraigned before District Justice Allen Page and charged with illegal possession of firearms.

A hearing is set for 3 p.m., Aug. 6 before District Judge James Sortman.
