Mansfield woman accused of theft
MANSFIELD – Betty Jo Brant, 57, of 5463 Main St., has been accused of stealing from the Wal-Mart in Millerton where she is employed, according to an affidavit.
Brant was suspected because money was missing from two registers for which she had been responsible.
According to police, Brant signed a noncustodial written statement and said she removed a total of $150 from registers.
Brant said she stole the money to pay prior fines for bad checks, buy groceries and to be able to get to work.
Brant departed Wal-Mart after being fired and was sent a summons to appear before District Judge James E. Carlson on Aug. 27 to face charges of theft.
