Charges against 2 dismissed or dropped

While he dismissed a felony charge of intimidation of a witness against Shavon Short, District Judge Christian Frey ruled there was sufficient evidence to hold the 23-year-old city woman on misdemeanor charges of retaliation against a witness and simple assault following a preliminary hearing last week.

The charges stem from Short, of 1510 High St., allegedly making “verbal threats” against Tiana Moore in the 700 block of West Edwin Street on May 4, city police said. Short is free on $50,000 bail.

In another case handled before Frey, city police dropped charges of simple assault and harassment against Paul John Latsch, 35, of 661 Wildwood Blvd., after the alleged victim in the case, Tamara Jones, decided not to pursue prosecution last week.

The charges stemmed from the domestic disturbance at Latch’s home on April 23.
