Hearing for homicide charge waived

Jodie Michelle Walker, 30, of 1503 High St., waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday on city police charges that stem from a one-vehicle crash in late September that claimed the life of a 48-year-old passenger in her car.

Walker will face further court action on charges of homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and related offenses that were filed in connection with a crash on the West Third Street off-ramp of Route 15 North about 11 a.m. on Sept. 29, police said.

Killed in the crash was Dawn Milheim, of Williamsport, who was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car as it crashed into a concrete barrier, police said. Milheim died at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries that resulted from the car landing on top of her, police said.

The front passenger door was defective from an earlier crash, police said, adding that Walker admitted to them that she was driving “too fast” when she took the exit.

Initially jailed following her arrest in late February, Walker is free on $75,000 bail.
