Man arrested in connection with 3 robberies in area

A 44-year-old man has been locked up on charges of allegedly robbing two businesses and a female juvenile during the Memorial Day weekend, according to state police.

Gerald Thompson, of Muncy, faces charges for allegedly robbing a clerk at Smoker’s Express on South Main Street in Muncy and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash on Friday night, police said.

The next day, Thompson robbed a girl of cash as she was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of Pier 87 Bar and Grill in the 5600 block of Route 87 in Upper Fairfield Township, police alleged.

Early Sunday morning, Thompson allegedly robbed a clerk of $700 at Sheetz on Westmister Drive and broke into the Loyalsock Hotel on Route 87, where he attempted to take money from a cash register, but he couldn’t open it, police alleged.

Charged with robbery and related offenses, Thompson was committed to the Lycoming County Prison.
