7 people to face charges in Elkland District Court

ELKLAND – Seven people either have appeared or will appear before District Judge James Edgcomb to face various charges. They are:

Derrick B. Updike, 27, of 39 Smith St., Tioga, faces charges of theft by deception, receiving stolen property, forgery and bad checks following an incident in February of 2016 in which he allegedly passed a stolen check to pay the first month’s rent on an apartment at 5337 Main St., Millerton. The check for $300 had been stolen and Updike is accused of forging the owner’s name on the check. He was evicted in April after he allegedly refused to pay any further rent on the apartment. He was issued a summons to appear at an Oct. 6 preliminary hearing.

Oliver L. Marble, 55, of 283 Scenic View Drive, Lot 14, Tioga, faces charges of disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and public drunkenness following a domestic incident Aug. 29 at his residence. He was issued a summons to appear at a Sept. 29 preliminary hearing.

Aaron D. Butler, 26, of 3 Skyview Lane, Lawrenceville, faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants after he stopped at a DUI checkpoint set up by state police on Route 287 July 22. He was issued a summons to appear at a Sept. 22 preliminary hearing.

Patrick T. McCarthy, 26, of 19 Pease Hill Road, Apt. 2, Lawrenceville, faces charges of DUI following a traffic stop by state police on Route 49, Deerfield Township, July 24. He was issued a summons to appear at Sept. 22 preliminary hearing.

Curtis Boyer, 24, of 215 First St., Knoxville, faces charges of DUI after he crashed his vehicle at 309 N. Water St., Knoxville, causing property damage there on Aug. 18. He was issued a summons to appear at a Sept. 29 preliminary hearing.

Joel W. Molloy, 36, of 2850 Route 49, Westfield, faces charges of DUI after he crashed his vehicle on Route 49 Aug. 5. He was issued a summons to appear at a Sept. 22 preliminary hearing.

Shawn L. Bement, 37, of 2292 Alder Run Road, Millerton, faces charges of DUI after he stopped at a DUI checkpoint set up by state police on Route 287 July 23. He was issued a summons to appear at a Sept. 22 preliminary hearing.
