Arrested on fugitive warrant

Jason Mersier, 26, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, was taken to the Lycoming County Prison on Wednesday afternoon after he was arraigned on a fugitive from justice warrant. Jailed without bail, Mersier was expected to be extradited to Camden, New Jersey, where he was wanted on charges of allegedly choking a 19-year-old woman to the point of going unconscious and then sexually assaulting her, according to court records. City police, along with agents from the U.S. Marshals Office, took Mersier into custody at 1414 Park Ave. about 1:45 p.m.
