Pair charged with child endangerment

While watching their 9-year-old son and 1-year-old grandson one afternoon in late June, Brian Keith Hoy and Stephanie Lynn Kuhns were “snorting bags of heroin together in a bathroom” at their home at 332 Locust St., city police Cpl. Dustin Reeder alleged in an affidavit.

Hoy, 42, then walked out of the house with the two children, but he got only about a block away when he suddenly went unresponsive, Reeder said police were told.

The 9-year-old took the toddler and returned to the house, but when the two entered the property, the 9-year-old saw his mother sprawled out on the kitchen floor, Reeder said.

With the toddler in tow, the boy left to get help, Reeder said.

One ambulance picked up Hoy on the street and took him to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, while a second ambulance transported Kuhns to the hospital.

Both recovered and now each face two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the June 24 incident.

Following their arraignment Tuesday before District Judge Christian Frey, they were each released on $3,500 bail.
