Man taken to hospital after hit-and-run

A driver was taken into custody for continuing to drive away after hitting and seriously damaging a vehicle at the 300 block of West Third Street just after 4 p.m. Friday, city police said.

A car was parked in front of The Kitchen Design Studio, 315 W. Third St., with its door completely torqued backwards after another car collided and scraped its left side.

City police officer Clinton Gardner pulled over a man driving a car matching the description of the vehicle responsible a block ahead of the crash just before the intersection of William and West Third streets.

The right side of the man’s car displaying New Jersey plates was scratched and damaged matching where he would have scraped the other vehicle.

The man who’s car was hit was transported to Williamsport Regional Medical Center by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries, Gardner said.

City police still are investigating the incident.
