City police ask for public’s help

Investigators are pursuing leads into who killed 50-year-old Kristine Kibler and her 25-year-old son, Shane Wright, in their home at 613 Poplar St. just before 10 p.m.

A masked gunman entered the house and shot the two during an apparent home invasion.

Two other adults and three children who were in the house were not harmed, according Cheyanna Wright, Shane’s sister and Kibler’s daughter.

Wright, along with her boyfriend and her 2-year-old son were locked in a their second-floor bedroom when the gunman entered.

Wright opened her door after she heard her mother scream “Oh my God.” She saw a gunman holding her mother hostage at the top of the stairway.

When the gunman turned the weapon toward her, Wright slammed the door shut and locked it as her boyfriend got on the telephone with 911.
