Man charged with DUI after driving to barracks

An Armstrong Township man faces a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants after he allegedly drove drunk to the state police barracks in Montoursville, according to court records.

Charles F. Kreamer went to barracks on Cherry Street on the night of Jan. 18 to report an incident of harassment that occurred at his home at 1228 Route 15 and involved his stepson, police said.

During an interview in the lobby at the barracks with Trooper Jason Cooley, Kreamer, 48, said he had consumed “five beers” at home, and when his stepson arrived at the house, he told the stepson “not to track dirt or grease into the house, and to clean snow off his shoes so as to not track snow across the porch,” according to an affidavit.

Kreamer stated the stepson struck him in the jaw and in the back of the head, Cooley said. Kreamer told the trooper he fled the house and called 911 before driving to the barracks, police said.

Cooley noticed Kreamer’s speech was slurred and that his eyes were glassy. “There was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath, the trooper wrote in the affidavit.

Claiming he had “nothing to hide,” Kreamer agreed to undergo a preliminary breath test as well as a field sobriety test, Cooley said. Kreamer showed “signs of impairment,” the trooper added.

A blood test taken at the UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Medical Center revealed that the man had a blood-alcohol content level of 0.13, court records state.

Kreamer has been sent a summons to appear before a district judge.
