Crack possession alleged of area woman

During the shoplifting arrest of her boyfriend early last month, Cheyanne M. Taylor, 22, of 2510 Linn St., allegedly attempted to hide a bag filled with packets of crack cocaine from a Montoursville police officer in her underwear.

The incident occurred at Wal-Mart, 1015 N. Loyalsock Ave., on April 8 when the boyfriend, Marvin Da-Von Young, 24, of Philadelphia allegedly stole $19 worth of headphones and fled to a nearby business, where he was taken into custody without incident, Officer Kurt Hockman, who responded to the department store, said in an affidavit.

As Hockman questioned Young, Young gave the officer a false name and date of birth, according to the affidavit.

While Young was walked to Hockman’s car after being processed, he tossed a bag from his waistband, and Taylor swiftly placed the bag in her underwear, the officer alleged.

The woman’s action was witnessed by a Wal-Mart loss prevention employee, who alerted Hockman after Young was secured in a police cruiser.

Taylor gave Hockman the bag, which contained 13 smaller bags of crack cocaine “for distribution,” the affidavit stated.

Young, who was arraigned last month on drug charges and related offenses, remained jailed in the Lycoming County Prison lieu of $60,000 bail. Taylor was arraigned this week before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman on charges of possession of crack cocaine and tampering with evidence, and released on $2,500 bail.
