IOANNIS PASHAKIS/Sun-Gazette An unidentified man suffered minor injuries, police said, when his car hit an embankment and flipped on Route 220 Monday evening.

A male driver in a silver sedan traveling south on Route 220 in Woodward Township hit an embankment and knocked over a utility pole on Monday evening, police said.

Emergency responders were told that the driver may have been trapped inside but they arrived at the scene to find that the driver already was out of the car.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries, police said.

The utility pole that the driver hit was hanging by its wires and there were “fluids leaking from a transformer attached,” Woodward Township Fire Chief Richard Whalen said.

Police said witnesses told them the driver may have been speeding prior to the crash.
