Accidental basement fire on Fox Hollow Road
City firefighters responded to this home at 1261 Fox Hollow Road to extinguish a small accidental fire in the basement about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to Assistant Chief Mark Killian. “An occupant was attempting to solder a leaking pipe with a torch and accidentally set fire to some insulation,” Killian said, adding the fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes and no one was displaced. Concerning another incident, a small fire broke out at JW Aluminum, 2475 Trenton Ave., about 6:15 p.m. Monday, Killian said. A spark ignited a fire that spread to a stack of absorbent pads before it was quickly doused, he said. Regarding a fire that broke out in the attic at 630 Fifth Ave. on Sept. 24, displacing several residents, the cause will remain undetermined, Killian said. The cause of a bedroom fire in the same structure on the 628 side of the duplex on March 12 also will remain undetermined, he added.
