Area police to ramp up DUI enforcement

Multiple police agencies within the county are ramping up DUI enforcement through Oct. 31.

As a part of the Lycoming County DUI Task Force, local police departments will be sending extra patrols throughout the county in response to the upcoming Halloween weekend.

“The Enforcement is for visibility. For people to see an increased police presence,” Cpl. Jeff Hughes of the Old Lycoming Township Police Department, said. “The whole focus of the enforcment is to make the highway safer for everybody.”

In a news release on the enforcement, Old Lycoming Township Chief Joseph Hope urged drivers to be safe this Halloween.

“All motorists are warned and urged not to drink and drive, and utilize designated drivers,” Hope wrote.
