Dushore man killed in 3-vehicle crash

LAPORTE — A Dushore man was pronounced dead at the scene of a three-vehicle crash Monday morning in Sullivan County.

Kurt R. Rexer, 21, of Dushore, was driving south on Route 220 at 8:52 a.m. in a 2005 Buick Century, when he crossed the center line into the northbound lane and struck an oversized cooler towed by a 2016 Kenworth truck driven by Peter J. Metts, 57, of Brownsville. Both in front of and behind Metts’ vehicle were two pilot vehicles escorting the truck.

Rexer’s vehicle rotated counter-clockwise and struck the rear pilot vehicle, a 2007 Honda Odyssey van driven by Debra J. Roe, 62, of Newport, Arizona.

The driver’s side of Roe’s vehicle collided with the passenger side of Rexer’s car before he spun and came to a rest off of the road.

Metts was uninjured and parked a short distance from the crash.

Roe’s vehicle came to a rest in the southbound lane. Roe was transported to UPMC Susquehanna Muncy Valley, where she was discharged later in the day.

Rexer was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sullivan County Coroner Wendy Hastings.

State police are investigating the crash.
