Attorney suspended after recent probation sentence

An area lawyer sentenced to five years of probation in Lycoming County Court for placing a tracking device and audio recorder in his ex-girlfriend’s car was placed on temporary suspension from the state bar.

Michael J. Casale Jr., 66, pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and interception of communications before being sentenced in September.

The order by the disciplinary board of the state Supreme Court was announced Thursday and will take effect on Feb. 3, according to the release.

During his sentencing, it was stated that Casale could face a number of what his attorney described as “collateral punishments” — meaning state bar suspension or total revocation.

“(Casale) has been placed on temporary suspension in this commonwealth …,” the release said.
