Man allegedly breaks into Wellsboro
WELLSBORO – A Mansfield man allegedly broke into an apartment and was jailed when unable to post $23,500 bail.
Elliot Thomas Gile, 20, was charged with criminal and defiant trespass and mischief by damaging property, according to an affidavit written by Wellsboro police.
Gile allegedly broke into the apartment, which is located at 21 Cone St. in this borough, at 9:34 a.m. on Feb. 3, police said.
Police spoke with Zoey Powell, a tenant living in the apartment. Powell stated she did not stay at the residence overnight as there were numerous problems with her ex-boyfriend, Gile.
Instead, Powell said she stayed at 17 Cone St. with her brother when an incident occurred about 6:05 a.m.
Powell told police that Gile had gained entry into the apartment through the left front window and then went upstairs where he damaged property.
Gile had been told not to go into the property by police. The landlord forbade Gile to be on the property, police said.
He also allegedly damaged the bedroom with vile graffiti. Damage to the bed in the room was estimated to be $200.
Gile was sent to the Tioga County prison in lieu of bail set by District Judge Robert L. Repard.
Man allegedly strikes woman
WELLSBORO – A borough man who allegedly beat up his girlfriend faces assault charges, police here said.
Steven James Mouery, 44, of Wellsboro, was arrested after borough Officer Samuel Delosa investigated the alleged assault of his girlfriend, Christina Gehman.
At 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 8, Gehman came to the police department after being treated at a local hospital and stated she had been in an abusive relationship for the past seven months, police said.
At about 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, Mouery allegedly grabbed her by the hair and banged her into a dryer. Mouery then allegedly continued to grab her hair, exposing her chin, clutched her by the throat and slammed her onto the floor. The police said there were signs of abuse on her body.
Mouery was charged with simple assault and harassment before District Judge Robert L. Repard. Mouery was then sent to the county prison in lieu of $7,500 bail.
WELLSBORO — A borough man who allegedly punched his ex-girlfriend in the face faces charges of assault, police here said.
Brandon Michael Clemens, 22, initially lied to borough Officer Jeremy Cook after the officer investigated the assault at 38 Jackson St. at 4:19 p.m. on Feb. 4.
The woman, Lauren Morse, was unable to see out of her eye and was visibly injured, police said.
Clemens was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment before District Judge Robert L. Repard. Clemens was then jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
