A Williamsport man was arrested on drug charges after allegedly assaulting another man in the city.

Police said Eric James Serious, 29, was taken into custody at about 1:30 a.m. June 6.

Police had been alerted of an assault at 762 W. Fourth St. involving a suspect fitting his description.

According to an affidavit, Serious was first observed by police walking north on Campbell Street before being detained on Memorial Avenue.

A gray plastic bag he had been carrying was discarded but later recovered by police.

The bag was found to contain crack cocaine, two cellphones and $205 in bills.

Following his arraignment on charges including possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, Serious was placed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. July 10.
