4 face charges in Tioga County
TIOGA — Four people either have appeared or will appear before district judges to face various charges in Tioga County. They are:
• Tommy Lee Thompson, 27, 48 Route 549, Lot 13, Mansfield, faces seven counts of writing bad checks at branches of the First Citizens Community Bank, in Mansfield, totalling $8,200 from March 17 to 21. Mansfield Borough Police allege Thompson and Barbara Shoemaker, who share a joint account at the bank, conspired to write the checks and cash them at two branches of the bank in a short period of time to avoid being denied. The bank had contacted the pair asking for $8,313.58 — the amount the account was overdrawn plus overdraft fees, but Thompson and Shoemaker said they had purchased a vehicle and could not pay. Thompson also was charged with criminal conspiracy. He was sent a summons to appear before District Judge James E. Carlson for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 1.
• Kevin A. Clark, 64, 41 Water St., Apt. B, Wellsboro, has been charged with making a false report on July 1. According to police, Clark called the police department alleging his bicycle had been stolen. In the meantime, police had located the bike in an alley near Your Mamma’s Mug and The Roost and returned it to Clark. When police went to his apartment, they found that Clark had been drinking and could not remember where he left his bike, which is why he reported it missing, they said. Police noted this was not the first time this had happened and Clark had been warned that charges would be filed if he did it again. He was sent a summons to appear before District Judge Robert L. Repard for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 14.
• Darren J. Hudick, 42, 181 Mount Pleasant, Morris, was charged with stalking and harassment by state police on March 9. According to police, Hudick allegedly travelled where the victim was on several occasions and posted things on social media about her. He also harassed another person by standing in a field next to their property and yelling obscenities, police said. He had been told to stop, but did not. He was sent a summons to appear before District Judge Robert L. Repard for a preliminary hearing on August 21.
• Justin P. Smith, 30, 5245 Ore Bed Place, Mansfield, is charged with criminal mischief stemming from an incident on May 24, at 22 E. Country Living Park, in Delmar Township. According to state police, Smith allegedly slashed the tires on two vehicles at that residence. Smith admitted doing it because he was upset about a prior incident and he thought someone else lived at that address. He was sent a summons to appear before District Judge Robert L. Repard for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 28.
