Man charged for giving alcohol to, pressuring 2 minors into sex acts

City police arrested a man Monday after witnesses saw him furnishing alcohol and pressuring two 14-year old girls to have sex with him at the Reading Railroad Bridge on West Third Street Saturday.

James R. Emery IV, 19, is facing charges of involuntary deviant sexual assault, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to minors for allegedly pressuring the two girls to unclothe and perform sexual acts on him and a second suspect, according to a city police news release.

Witnesses told police that Emery and another adult male, who has not yet been identified, were seen engaging in sexual acts with the two girls south of the 1500 block of West Third Street before 6 p.m. Saturday. When adults confronted Emery, he and the other male fled the scene, police said.

City police then spoke with the two 14-year-old victims, who admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages with the two men. They told police they were then asked to play a game where they were pressured to take off their clothes. One of the victims, according to police, was then pressured to perform an undisclosed sexual act on Emery.

Emery was arraigned before District Justice Christian Frey on Monday after police located him in the 1600 block of Andrews place two days after the incident. Emery was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail. Police are still looking for the other male seen with Emery.
