Muncy man sentenced to prison for raping 12-year-old

A Muncy man will be serving up to 23 1/2 months in the Lycoming County Prison after admitting to sexually assaulting a 12-year-old that he met on Snapchat last fall.

Tristan Ryan Jelassi, 18, of 1980 Route 405, Muncy, pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault at a hearing in front of President Judge Nancy L. Butts on June 29.

Jelassi and the 12-year-old victim had met on the app Snapchat in September before beginning a relationship that borough Patrolman David Williams referred to as “holding hands, kissing and hanging out with one another.”

At this time, Jelassi and the victim, whose name was not mentioned in the affidavit, made their relationship more physical, police said. Jelassi visited the girl at her home, had inappropriate contact with her and raped her in her bedroom, police said in court documents.

During the investigation, photos of the victim were found on Jelassi’s phone, and police said they had been taken by a third person.

During the hearing, Butts sentenced Jelassi to serve nine to 23 and 1/2 months in county prison, 24 months of probation and 50 hours of community service.

Charges of rape of a child, six counts of aggravated indecent assault, three counts of indecent assault, sexual assault, child pornography and corruption of minors were dropped according to Jelassi’s plea agreement.

Jelassi has credit for time served for 97 days in county prison.
