Police: Man holds gun to wife’s head, threatens to shoot her

MONTGOMERY — During a disturbance at the couple’s Clinton Township home early Sunday morning, Matthew W. Fox twice put a gun to his wife’s head and told her he was “going to shoot her,” state police alleged in an affidavit.

Fox didn’t shoot his wife, Shannon, but she managed to disarm him by striking him with her car as she fled the home at 98 Dogwood Ridge Road about 12:15 a.m., police said.

Police allege Fox, 34, was still pointing the gun at his wife as she was backing the car out of the garage. She accidentally struck the side of the building, police said.

The woman then put the car in drive and accelerated, striking her husband, police said, adding that the impact knocked the gun out of his hand. Shannon stopped, picked up the weapon and fled before calling police.

While the couple was still in the house, Fox had threatened to shoot his wife first in a bedroom and then again in a den after he “tackled” her to the floor, police alleged.

Fox was taken to the UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Upon being discharged, Fox was turned over to police custody and arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey on charges of terroristic threats, recklessly endangering, simple assault, tampering with evidence and harassment. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
