Police: Man rams other man with car for talking to his girlfriend
Apparently upset to see another man talking with his girlfriend, Montoursville resident Travis Jay Lander got in his car to look for the man, and when he found him minutes later, he struck him with the vehicle, got out of the car and beat him up, state police alleged in court papers.
Lander, 20, of 235 Broad St., has been locked up on assault-related charges following the incident that occurred at East Third Street in Loyalsock Township about noon Sunday, police said.
The victim, who was not identified in court papers, was taken by ambulance to the UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center. There was no information on his condition.
Lander admitted to police that he got in his Monte Carlo in an attempt to pursue and locate the victim after looking out a window at his home and seeing the man talking with his girlfriend. The man left on a scooter, police said.
Lander made his way to the area of East Third Street and Warrensville Road, where he spotted the male sitting on a curb, police said. Police allege he struck the man with the front of his car and then beat him up. The victim fled, but Lander chased after him and assaulted him a second time, police said.
Following his arraignment before District Jon E. Kemp on charges of aggravated and simple assault, harassment and careless driving, Lander was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
