10 people face various charges

TIOGA — Ten people either have appeared or will appear before district judges to face various charges in Tioga County. They are:

• Tristan James Gerow, 21, 499 Valley Road, Mansfield, faces Mansfield University police charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and corruption of a minor stemming from an incident involving a female under the age 15 near the school’s Shaute Baseball Field on Clinton Street in mid-June. According to police, Gerow began a secret relationship because of their age difference and allegedly assaulted the victim sexually. Gerow was arraigned before District Judge James E. Carlson and was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail; he has a preliminary hearing Oct. 31.

• Zachariah James Baney, 26, 77 Allysum Lane, Farrandsville, faces charges of driving under the influence, speeding and reckless driving following an incident in Mansfield. According to Mansfield Borough police, Baney allegedly drove through the borough at a high rate of speed. When he stopped at the Sheetz parking lot at 85 Wellsboro St., the officer that approached him detected the odor of alcohol. Baney allegedly became uncooperative and started screaming so he was committed to the Tioga County Prison initially, but posted $2,500 bail. He was sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge James E. Carlson on Oct. 17.

• Justin Lee Burton, 33, 94 Log Row Road, Blossburg, faces charges of terroristic threats and simple assault stemming from an incident at his residence on Oct. 15. Blossburg Police said they were called to Burton’s home by his wife following a domestic disturbance where Burton allegedly struck his wife in the face and pinned her against a wall. She told police that the couple has a history of physical and psychological abuse and that her husband allegedly had previously been arrested for hitting her. Burton was committed to Tioga County Prison and was released on $10,000 bail. He has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge James E. Carlson on Oct. 24.

• Chris Robert Evans, 36, 911 Menne Alley, Williamsport, faces charges of driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the road, failing to stop at a stop sign and driving with a suspended license stemming from an incident on Sept. 30 on Tioga Street, Wellsboro. According to Wellsboro Borough Police, Evans was stopped by police when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. The officer then detected the odor of alcohol. Evans has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert L. Repard on Dec. 4.

• Dylan Mark Wagaman, 19, 49 Asaph Run Road, faces charges of possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and speeding following an incident May 20 on Cherry Flats Road in Charleston Township. According to state police at Mansfield, Wagaman was stopped for speeding when the officer detected the odor of marijuana. Wagaman has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert L. Repard on Nov. 20.

• Jeffery J. Anderegg, 43, 22 Wetmore St., Wellsboro, faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drugs, which Wellsboro police allegedly found at his home from Sept. 5 to 6. According to police, Anderegg’s girlfriend was told that her boyfriend had drugs at his residence. When police arrived, they allegedly found oxycodone, Diazepam and Gabapentin in addition to a digital scale and a meth pipe. Anderegg has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Robert L. Repard on Nov. 20.

• Kimberly Ann McCloskey, 48, 21 Grant St., Apt. B202, Wellsboro, faces charges of possession following an incident at her residence on Aug. 3. According to Wellsboro Police, they received a tip that someone was smoking marijuana at the Grant Street address where McCloskey lived. When police arrived, McCloskey allegedly admitted to having the drug. She has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert L. Repard on Nov. 20.

• Richard L. Hamlen, 51, 272 Neyhart Road, Stroudsburg, faces charges of possession of marijuana for allegedly growing eight marijuana plants at 90 Monacacy Lane, Gaines Township. According to state police at Montoursville, they had received a tip that someone was growing marijuana at that address and when they arrived, they found the plants growing in the front yard. Hamlen’s mother said her son grew the plants for medicinal purposes. Hamlen has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert L. Repard on Oct. 30.

• Lucas James McCloskey, 23, 1360 Golf Course Road, Altoona, faces charges of allegedly driving under the influence, driving with an expired license and canceled insurance following a traffic stop on Tioga Street in Wellboro by borough police on Sept. 16. He has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert L. Repard on Nov. 20.

• Tristen Joshua Drake, 21, 3662 Route 6, Wellsboro, faces charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment stemming from an incident at his address on Sept. 26. According to state police at Mansfield, during a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, Drake allegedly started to choke her and pushed and shoved her before she called the police, at which time he left. When police contacted him, he alleged that his girlfriend pulled his hair and scratched him. Drake has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert L. Repard on Oct. 23.
