City man faces at least 84 months

A man facing a string of drug charges waived his jury trial in Lycoming County Court Thursday.

Tyrone K. Sims, 26, Philadelphia, instead pleaded guilty before Judge Nancy L. Butts to the charges involving three different cases in Williamsport in October 2017.

Sims had been scheduled for trial June 10.

He was arrested on two separate occasions after selling fentanyl to informants in Williamsport.

He was also arrested that month after police stopped a vehicle in which he was passenger in the 800 block of Park Avenue.

The driver told police he had been trying to purchase a bundle of heroin for $70 from the passenger, according to an affidavit.

Sims was charged with counts of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and possession.

He faces a minimum of 84 months in prison.

His sentencing is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 20 in county court.
