Maple weekend starts Saturday

WELLSBORO – The 9th annual Maple Weekend, organized by the Potter-Tioga Maple Producers Association, will be held this weekend in Potter and Tioga counties.

The event, which starts Saturday and goes into Sunday, will feature maple syrup making demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 14 locations, seven in each county.

In addition to the demonstrations of maple tree tapping and syrup making, free samples will be available at most locations and pancake breakfasts are scheduled in Westfield and Wellsboro.

The Crary Hose Co. will hold a pancake breakfast at the Westfield Community Building from 7 to 11 a.m. both days and there will be a pancake breakfast at the Wellsboro Ossea Masonic Lodge, 8 Kelsey St., from 7 to 11 a.m. also both days.

In addition to the events at producers’ locations, there will be a maple tree tapping demonstration in Hills Creek State Park for backyard producers during the same hours both days.
