Wellsboro woman recognized for donating 5 gallons to area blood bank

WELLSBORO – Christine Palmer, of Wellsboro, was recognized June 3 by the Community Blood Bank for reaching her five-gallon donation milestone.

Palmer has been donating regularly at the CBB’s Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital blood drive, held the first Monday of each month from noon to 5 p.m. in the board room.

Palmer was awarded a golden seal certificate and small gift by the organization in recognition of her commitment to blood donation, and a congratulatory cake was served to donors and staff to celebrate. Donor Ashley Valentine won the $25 Home Depot gift card being raffled at the drive.

Also recognized for a donation milestone is James Harris, of Mansfield, who recently reached his 15-gallon donation milestone.

“Thanks to our donors’ dedication and generosity over the years, we are able to touch the lives of thousands of local community members,” said Lora Cope, CBB regional mobile drive coordinator for Potter and Tioga counties. “We congratulate these Tioga County donors on going above and beyond the call to give back to their community.”

After donating, participants are urged to sit for 10 minutes and replenish their bodies’ reserves by partaking of the sandwiches, fruit, cookies and juice provided by SSMH’s Nutrition Services department.
