Resurfacing project on Route 6 in Bradford County starts tonight

A resurfacing project on Route 6 (the “Golden Strip”) in Wysox Township, Bradford County, is scheduled to start tonight.

Prime contractor New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc. will begin work at the eastern end of the Veterans Memorial Bridge and work east to the traffic signal at the intersections of Route 6 and Route 187.

Work will consist of traffic signal and curb ramp improvements at the Route 6 and Route 187 intersections, base repairs, milling of the existing roadway, new pavement overlay and pavement markings over the entire project. The bridge deck over Little Wysox Creek will receive an epoxy overlay.

The base repair, milling and overlay operations will be performed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evening through Friday morning each week. Work that can be completed with minor traffic impacts will be completed during daylight hours.

Traffic will be restricted to a single lane through the work area, with flaggers controlling the traffic flow. Motorists are asked to stay alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

All work under this $1,233,492 contract is scheduled for completion by mid-November.

Pipe replacement

project set on Route 864 in Lycoming County

A state Department of Transportation maintenance crew in Lycoming County will close a section of Route 864 in Mill Creek and Wolf townships for a pipe replacement project.

The work will be performed between Route 2051 (Quaker Church Road) and Court Street in Picture Rocks.

Route 864 will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. from Tuesday, July 29, through Wednesday, Aug. 13.

There will be a signed detour in place using Route 2051 (Quaker Church Road), Route 2053 (Rabbittown Road) and Route 220.

Route 249 base repairs underway in Tioga County

A state Department of Transportation maintenance crew in Tioga County began roadway base repairs on Route 249 in Chatham and Westfield townships July 23. All work will take place between Route 4012 (Short Hill Road) and Route 49.

Work will be performed during daylight hours. Traffic will be restricted to single lane and controlled by flaggers.

Weather permitting, the project should take about 20 days to complete.

Bridge preservation work is completed

in Tioga County

A preservation project involving 18 bridges across Tioga County has been completed.

The bridges are at the following locations: two on Route 2020 (Mack Road), seven on Route 2020 (West Hill Road), one on Route 2014 (River Road), three on Route 2018 (Cherry Flats Road), two on Route 1020 (Alder Run Road), two on Route 6 and one on Route 549.

Each of these bridges received membrane waterproofing systems on their decks and new blacktop overlays.

The bridges were partially closed while improvements were made by HRI Inc., under a $525,667 contract.
