LEARNING ABOUT LIVESTOCK

PHOTO PROVIDED On Nov. 17, several students in the Troy FIFA competed in the Bradford County Livestock career development event at Fairview Farm, of Granville Summit. Students placed classes of horses, hogs, goats, sheep and beef cows, explained their placements for a beef cow class and a class of horses and took a written test about beef cows and sheep. Students also had the opportunity to learn about how to judge sheep and horses and learned about reasons for the official placings of beef cows. “It was very educational,” said Carl Kingsley. “I learned a lot about horses.” Overall, Kingsley placed eighth, Alexis Ostrander was 13th and lantaca Kenyon was 14th in the livestock portion. In the horse portion, Kenyon was first, Zachary Schrader was eighth and Ashley Jackson was 17th.
