Graduation celebration

JERSEY SHORE – St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., will celebrate graduation Sunday with one service at 9 a.m. followed by a tea. High school and college graduates, as well as Pastor Kerry Aucker, who finished his Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Seminary, will be honored.

Summer services start

CARSONTOWN – Carsontown Community Church begins summer services at 9:30 a.m. The nondenominational church has been serving the Little Pine Creek area for more than 100 years and is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The church is on Little Pine Creek Road, Route 4001, three miles southwest of English Center or eight miles northeast of Waterville,

Women’s Day program

The Women’s Ministry of Freedom House, 1700 Memorial Ave., will hold its annual Women’s Day starting at 11 a.m. with guest speaker JoAnn Walker. Afternoon events will include a dinner at 3 p.m. and worship service at 4 p.m. featuring evangelist Tasha Smith, of Elmira, N.Y. Schlappis in concert

JERSEY SHORE – Phelps Chapel United Methodist Church, off the Route 220 Pine Creek Exit, will host Carl and Opal Schlappi in a country Gospel concert at 6:30 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken and ice cream sundaes follow the service.


Spaghetti dinner

St. Joseph the Worker Parish will hold an authentic Italian spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m. in the Fleming Center, 720 W. Fourth St. Cost is $8 adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Proceeds benefit youth mission trip in June. Tickets are available at the parish office at 711 W. Edwin St. or at the door. Takeouts available.


Yard and bake sale

BLOOMSBURG – Katys Church, 10 Phillips Road, west off Route 254, will hold a yard and bake sale from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Donation of unwanted items or baked goods for the sale will be greatly appreciated. A portion of the proceeds benefit the continued restoration and renovation of the historical church. Community yard sale

Montoursville Brethren in Christ Church, 105 Fairview Court, will hold a community yard sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the church parking lot. The church is along Route 87, just north of Wal-Mart. Hot dogs and baked goods will be sold to benefit Young Life.

Turkey dinner

MUNCY – Turkey dinner served family style will be held at Huntersville United Methodist Church, 5263 Rabbittown Road, from 4-7 p.m. featuring fresh roasted turkey. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and free for those under 6.

Alumnus dinner

QUIGGLEVILLE – St. Michael’s Lutheran Church will host the annual Hepburn Township School alumni at 5 p.m. at the parish hall. Attendees are asked to bring a tureen, drink and table service. For more information, call 322-2619.

The Newberry Christian Center, 2100 Linn St. in Newberry, will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., including a silent auction throughout the day. Proceeds will benefit the Newberry Church of Christ youth group mission trip to the Navajo Indian reservation in Winslow, Ariz.

Roast beef supper

ELIMSPORT – Elimsport United Methodist Church, 16145 Route 44, will hold an old fashioned dip meal from 4-6:30 p.m. featuring a choice of roast turkey or roast beef and ham barbecue sandwich. A dip of meat or main dish is $2.50 and each side is 75 cents. Takeouts are available.


Biker service set

Rev. Jerry Conley, of Midnight Riders Ministries, accompanied by his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, will hold a special biker service at 10 a.m. at Trinity Assembly of God Church, 332 Loyalsock Ave. in Montoursville. Jerry and his wife, Susan, have established a “Broken Heart Fund” to help with tuition for those who want to enter the Teen Challenge program where they will receive help to be delivered from drugs, alcohol and other addictive habits. Jerry will share the details of the “Jericho Run,” an annual motorcycle ride to rase money for “Broken Heart.” He also will hold a blessing of the bikers prayer for all riders in attendance. Joe Murry Band performing

TURBOTVILLE – The Joe Murray Band will present an evening of country gospel music at Zion Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise St., beginning at 6:30 p.m. Prior to the show, the Disaster Relief Team from the church will serve a soup and sandwich meal beginning at 5 p.m. in the church social hall. Bethany Lutheran Church, 369 Broad St. in Montoursville, will hold a spring concert at 7 p.m. with proceeds to benefit the United Churches of Lycoming County food pantry.


Election day supper

JERSEY SHORE – First United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main St., will hold a primary election day supper from 4:40-6:30 p.m. Takeout meals are available; tickets will be sold at the door. Ticket donation is $8 for adults, $3 for children age 6-10 and free for those 5 and under. The main meal is baked steak.


All-you-can-eat buffet

PENNSDALE – Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, is holding an all-you-can-eat buffet, catered by Springman’s Country Store of Pennsdale, from 4-7 p.m. This month’s menu includes pulled pork and spit-fired barbecue chicken quarters. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children (ages 5-10) and free for children under 5 years. Takeouts are available and cost $10 each.


Free fellowship meal

WATSONTOWN – A free fellowship meal will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6590 Musser Lane, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. featuring roast beef and gravy.

Set up be held from 5-6 p.m. May 22 at the church where clean, seasonal clothing may be dropped off at the basement entrance on Washington Blvd. at that time. We are always in need of baby and children’s clothing.


Camp registration time

Registrations now are being accepted for the following Child Evangelism Fellowship of Tioga County Inc. Good News Day Camps:

Nauvoo Good News Day Camp at the Nauvoo Community Center 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 8-12.

Ives Run Good News Day Camp at the Ives Run Recreation Area 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 22-26.

Cowanesque Valley Good News Day Camp is held at the Cowanesque Valley Iroquois Pavilion 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 12-16.

Pack a brown bag lunch and drink and enjoy games, crafts, Bible lessons, live missionaries, swimming and prizes at all three camps. Transportation is included in the $25 cost. Scholarships are available to those who have limited funds. Call CEF at 724-4591 to get a form.

RAUCHTOWN – The five Lutheran Churches of Jersey Shore (St. James, St. John, Garman, Grace and Trinity) are hosting a yard sale starting at 7 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Road. All proceeds will be donated to the Lock Haven Women’s Shelter and Family Promise.

Haiti relief information

Calvary Baptist Church, 42 Washington Blvd., will hold a Haiti relief informational event from 5-7 p.m. for those interested in learning about 7-10-day trips to build houses for people who still are living in tents and other on-going ministries to those devastated during the January 2010 earthquake. ‘Holy Pascha’ celebration

Orthodox Christians will celebrate “Holy Pascha” at 11 p.m. with services at Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Lane off Northway Road in Loyalsock Township, remembering the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The main celebrant will be His Grace, the Right Rev. Bishop Mark, administrator of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania of the Orthodox Church in America. An outdoor Pentecost Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. at pavilion No. 5 at Indian Park in Montoursville with the area Episcopal churches. A picnic and games will be held after the worship service. Dress is casual. Bring your lawn chair and lawn games and enjoy the fellowship of others. Handicap parking and clean restrooms are close to the pavilion. CANTON – The early bird registration is May 15 for the New Life Church Regional Women’s Conference June 21-22 that will feature special speaker Kellie Williams. Kellie and her husband, Grant, pastor Living Word Christian Church in Fort Myers, Fla. Kellie serves in a variety of ministry positions including women’s and youth pastor.
