Balls Mills United Methodist Church, 5941 Bloomingrove Road, Cogan Station, will hold an ice cream festival from 4-7 p.m. Other food items will be available.


Teen Challenge choir to sing

CALVERT – The Beech Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Beech Valley Road, will hold a hymn sing starting at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterward.

Free clothing exchange

A free clothing exchange will be held from 8-11 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 Howard St. in South Williamsport. Park in the lot across the street and use the alley entrance; an elevator is available. Clothes for all ages is available. If you have clean wearable clothes to donate, please bring them. If not, come and take what you need.

Back-to-school clothing giveaway

First Christian Church of Montoursville, 5329 Lycoming Mall Drive (next to Bostleys Fairfield Academy), will hold a back-to-school free clothing giveaway from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Children’s bicycle derby

JERSEY SHORE – Mountain View Alliance Church, 1515 Cemetery St., in cooperation with the state Department of Transportation and Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police Department, will hold a bicycle derby for children age 4-12 from 10 a.m.-noon. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring their own bike. Players from the Williamsport Crosscutters will assist. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Call 398-0699 to pre-register.

Chicken barbecue

TURBOTVILLE – Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise St., will hold its sixth annual chicken barbecue from 4-7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by members of the congregation. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. Tickets for the dinner are $8. Walk-ins are welcome and take-outs also are available. Stop by or call the church office at 649-5195 for advance tickets. Proceeds will be split between Warrior Run Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Mount Luther and Zion’s flooring fund.

‘Friends of Israel’ ministry

MIFFLINBURG – Mitch Triestman, a representative of the “Friends of Israel” ministry, will be the guest speaker at the Mifflinburg Alliance Church, 1.2 miles north of Route 45 off Forest Hill Road, during the 9:15 a.m. adult Sunday school, 10:30 a.m. worship and 6 p.m. services. He will address modern day Israel and the prophecies of the Bible.

Fellowship dinner

Farragut Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, along Route 864 near the intersection with Route 87, will hold its monthly First Tuesday Fellowship Dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. Free-will donations are accepted.

Tigers-Yankees baseball trip

A limited number of seats remain for the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples) bus trip to Yankee Stadium for a baseball game between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees. Stops will be made in Wellsboro, Mansfield, Troy, Canton, Ralston, Williamsport and Danville. Cost of $145 includes bus and game tickets and breakfast. All-you-can-eat buffet

PENNSDALE – Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, will hold an all-you-can-eat buffet catered by Springman’s Country Store of Pennsdale from 4-7 p.m. featuring pulled pork barbecue and spit-fired barbecue chicken quarters. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children (ages 5-10) and free for children under 5 years. Takeouts are available for $10 each.


Daniel’s Closet open

Daniel’s Closet, a free clothing ministry for children, women and men, will be open from 9-11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1101 Washington Blvd. NOTE: No clothing donations are being accepted this month.

LOCK HAVEN – Holy Spirit Parish, 3 E. Walnut St., will hold its second fair from 5-9 p.m. each night. Food booths open at 5 and games at 6. There also will be live entertainment nightly. A special Mass of thanksgiving will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Church. Rain date is noon-6 p.m. July 28.

A Polish dinner will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St. in Montoursville, from 4-8 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Lia Hart Donation Fund.

Ice cream social

NAUVOO – A homemade ice cream social will be held at 5 p.m. at New Linck Schoolhouse (north of Williamsport off Route 414 west of Liberty). The event is sponsored by St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.


Pet blessing set

First United Methodist Church, 604 N. Market St., will hold a blessing of the pets ceremony at 10 a.m. outside in the fountain area at Market and Packer streets (if there is inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside). The event marks the beginning of the hearts, hands and paws ministry of the church. We request that all pets be securely leashed or in a carrier (flexi-leads are not advised for the ceremony). Anyone who cannot bring their pet, or who feels that their pet would not enjoy the short ceremony, are welcome to bring a picture of their pet instead.

Stabler’s Grove camp meeting

Evangelist Steve Housewright will be the main speaker during the annual Stabler’s Grove Camp Meeting from 7-9 p.m. Special music during the week will include Winnie Schweikart (Sunday), Joe Tokay (Monday), Harlan Bower (Tuesday), Ron Guinter (Wednesday), The Fishers (Thursday), Bobbi Grieco (Frida), Crossroads 180 Youth Band (Saturday, also Youth Night) and Crossfire (Sunday). Sponsored by the District 11 Sunday School Association of Lycoming County, to get to the grove follow Route 220 west from Williamsport to Pine Run Road, just west of the Harvest Moon Restaurant. Turn right onto Pine Run and go about 4 miles to where the road makes a 90 degree left turn and make a right. The grove is 1.5 miles on the left. Call the Rev.
