Soup, indoor yard sale

Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, 31 N. Loyalsock Ave. in Montoursville, will hold a vegetable soup sale and indoor yard sale with baked goods and lunch from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Vegetable soup will be available at $5 per quart. For orders, call 570-368-1863.

Open house slated

New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St. will host an open house from 1-4 p.m. as part of its 40th anniversary of uniting.

Ham dinner set

ROSEVILLE —  Roseville United Methodist Church, Route 549, will hold a ham dinner from 3-6:30 p.m. Proceeds to benefit the Roseville United Methodist Women’s Mission projects.

Benefit turkey dinner

LAIRDSVILLE — St. Marks Church of Lairdsville, Route 118, will serve a roast turkey dinner from 3-7 p.m. with donations going toward Eleanor Stine’s cancer treatment expenses at Geisinger Medical Center.

AVIS — Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., will hold a homestyle turkey dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and free for those under 6. Takeouts available.

Fall festival slated

LINDEN — Pine Run United Methodist, 1719 Pine Run Road, will host a fall festival starting at 5 p.m. The event features hayrides for the whole family, plus trunk or treat for children 12 and under.

Schlappis in concert

SUNDAY

Walk/run scheduled

St. Joseph the Worker will hold a 5K run or 2-mile walk to benefit Family Promise of Lycoming County. Registration will begin at noon at the South Williamsport Park Complex and the events begin at 1 p.m. Fee is $20 per runner/walker or $40 per family. A free children’s fun run will follow. Organ concert slated

AVIS — Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., will hold an organ concert at 2 p.m. with several area organists playing a variety of selections with a few piano/organ duets and instrumental selections. For more information, call Kay Knarr-Fisher at 570-502-2150.

Our Pennsylvania Neighbors

JERSEY SHORE — Pastor Melody Sell will present the class “Our Pennsylvania Neighbors” at St. John Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., from 2:30-5 p.m. in the Sunday school room. The presentation will focus on strange and unusual religious groups in central Pennsylvania, especially those that existed in this area.

Movie night set

Diamond Street Christian Church, 822 Diamond St., will hold movie night starting at 5 p.m. A free light meal will be served before the movie.

Singspiration scheduled

Buchanan Baptist Church, 3240 Grimesville Road, will have a singspiration at 7 p.m. with Carl and Opal Schlappi, and others, singing.

Benefit concert slated

HUGHESVILLE — Christ United Methodist Church, 148 S. Main St., will hold a benefit concert at 2 p.m. for the victims of Hurricane Matthew featuring vocalists Brian and Sara Scott. All proceeds benefit Samaritans Purse relief efforts.

MONDAY

Noted podcaster to speak

“Ancient Spirituality: Modern Application” is the topic for a public lecture at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane in Loyalsock Township, that will be presented by the Rev. Thomas Soroka, rector of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in McKees Rocks. A free-will offering will be received. Refreshments will be provided by the Holy Cross Auxiliary in the Orthodox Fellowship Center following the lecture.

Lasagna dinner

Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St., will hold a lasagna dinner from 4-6:30 p.m. Takeouts available. Dinner cost is $9 for adults and $5.50 for children (12 and younger) or $6.50 for lasagna only. For information, call 570-322-0126.

JERSEY SHORE — St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 120 Kendall Ave., will hold its 49th annual family style pork and sauerkraut dinner with lunch from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and dinner from 4-7 p.m. Takeouts available. MONTGOMERY — A catered lunch will be available for Montgomery area senior citizens  at noon at St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road.
