West End Christian Community Center, 901 Diamond St., will celebrate its seventh anniversary and serve Easter dinner from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

TUESDAY

Suicide attempt survivor to speak

Kevin Hines, one of just 36 people who have survived jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, will present a Keynote Presentation: “Cracked Not Broken, Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt” at 6 p.m. at Pennsylvania College of Technology Klump Academic Center auditorium on Third Street.

Holy week schedule

Christ Episcopal Church, 426 Mulberry St., has scheduled the following services: 9:45 a.m. Sunday, blessing of the palms and processional, choral Holy Eucharist with the Rev. Peter Harer; 7 p.m. Thursday, Holy Eucharist, stripping of the altar with the Rev. Canon Dee Calhoun; 7 p.m. Good Friday, liturgy and Holy Communion with the Rev. Canon Andrew France; 10 a.m. Easter Sunday, celebration of the resurrection with the Rev. Canon Andrew France.

APRIL 9-16

Orthodox Holy Week celebration

Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane off Northway Road in Loyalsock Township, will celebrate Palm Sunday April 9 with a 10 a.m. liturgy including children’s procession and blessing of branches. It marks the beginning of Holy Week, leading to the celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Sunday, April 16. Daily services during Holy Week will be held with additional services Thursday through Saturday. Resurrection services begin at 11:15 p.m. Saturday with an outdoor, candlelight procession and proceed into the early morning culminating in the reception of the Paschal Eucharist. At the conclusion of services, Paschal eggs, baskets and foods will be blessed and an agape meal will be held in the Orthodox Fellowship Center adjacent to the church. There is no other morning service. Holy Cross is the only Orthodox congregation in a six-county area. All services are in English. Further details at holycrosswilliamspsort.org.

APRIL 12-16

Seder meal scheduled

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market St., will hold a seder meal at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall. Other services during the week include a footwashing and holy communion at noon and 7 p.m. Thursday. A community Good Friday service from noon-3 p.m. with a tenebrae service of shadows at 7 p.m. that night. An Easter vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday and Easter Sunday services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt for children at 9:15 a.m.

Easter week services set

MONTGOMERY — St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, continues its 200th anniversary celebration with a presentation of the chancel drama “The Last Supper,” at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday. The living dramatization shows the 12 Apostles speaking their minds to themselves, to each other and to the Lord wondering “Is it I” who will betray “Him.” A communion service will follow. At 7 p.m. Good Friday the service is labeled “Tapestry of Darkness.” And on Easter Sunday, a sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m. and regular service at 8:30 a.m., followed by a breakfast sponsored by church youth. During the 8:30 a.m. service April 23, the church will recognize members, present and past, who participated in the following: The Chancel Drama, Puppet Ministry, Alter Guild, Brick Church Women, Candy Making Group, Funeral Dinners, Monthly Dinners, Lap Robes, Prayer Shawl Group and Home Bound Meal Ministry.

APRIL 14

Good Friday services

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market St., will hold a traditional three-hour service, hosted by the Williamsport City Ministerium. The theme of the service will be “Instruments of the Passion” and will include nine speakers and special music provided from various congregations.

• Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 3200 Lycoming Creek Road, by the Hepburn-Lycoming Ministerium.

• Christ United Methodist Church, 148 S .Main St., Hughesville, by the East Lycoming Ministerium.

• Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with a walk with the cross from First UMC, 236 S. Main St. to Trinity.

1 p.m.

• Resurrection Catholic Church, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, by the Muncy Ministerium.

5 p.m.

• Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 601 Hepburn St., led by the Rev. Cynthia Dallas-Kirk with guest speaker the Rev. Gwen Bernstine, executive director of the United Churches of Lycoming County.

7 p.m.

• Mill Creek United Methodist Church, 2255 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, hosted by the Montoursville United Methodist cluster.

• St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery, 196 Brick Church Road, a cantata “Tapestry of Darkness,” hosted by the Montgomery Ministerium.

• St. James Lutheran Church, Rauchtown, by the area Lutheran congregations.

• Oval United Methodist Church, 6796 S. Route 44, hosted by the Nippenose Valley Ministerium.

‘The Last Supper’ performed

Lycoming Valley Baptist Church, 4980 Lycoming Mall Drive, Montoursville, will present a dramatization of “The Last Supper” at 6:30 p.m.

Candlelight service

MUNCY VALLEY — Rock Run Church, 1190 Route 220, will hold a Good Friday candlelight and communion service at 7:30 p.m.

APRIL 15

Men’s resurrection breakfast

CLARKS SUMMIT — Dr. James Lytle, president of Clarks Summit University, will be the guest speaker at a men’s and young men’s resurrection breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Ramada Inn, 820 Northern Blvd. Cost is $12 per person. Call 570-966-4800 to make a reservation by April 10.

Soup sale scheduled

TIVOLI — Tivoli United Methodist Church, 9598 Route 220, Hughesville, will hold a soup sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. featuring ham and bean, chicken corn and vegetable beef soups that will be sold by the bowl or by the quart. A lunch will be served and baked good will be for sale.

Jacob Brothers in concert

Easter events scheduled

AVIS — Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., will hold an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. on Saturday and a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday with breakfast following. A traditional service titled “Resurrection Changes Everything” will be at 10:15 a.m. Sunday.
