Dr. Beatty keeps patients smiling for 40 years
JERSEY SHORE– Since 1978 Dr. Richard A. Beatty has been making his patients smile wider due to his quality dentistry.
He began working at the Jersey Shore Hospital doing wisdom teeth extractions then opened his own private practice in 1988, 259 Allegheny St.
He has seven employees that include dental hygienists and assistants as well as a receptionist and office manager.
Beatty does general dentistry, crowns, bridges, implants, veneers, root canals and TMJ treatment.
With the help of his employees, they are able to take care of their patients’ mouths to the best of their ability.
Many of his patients have been with him since he opened his practice. He has seen multiple generations of families come through his door, Beatty said.
“I like the patients I have,” he said. “I’m here to take care of them, that’s been my attitude.”
He enjoys helping them have a nice smile and get them out of pain if they are in it, he said. People who have a dental emergency will come to him such as a broken or abscessed tooth.
Elaine Harrow, of Jersey Shore, has been a patient of Beatty’s since 1979. When she needed him for a dental emergency, she was pleased with his work.
“He took me right in and fixed me up,” Harrow said.
Him being an excellent dentist through his quality work as well as the nice people who accompany him is what has kept her and her husband going there for over 30 years, she said.
Beth Farr, a dental hygienist, and Jame Reidell, a dental assistant, said they enjoy working for Beatty.
“He is calm and compassionate with patients,” Farr said.
Beatty gives the hygienists ample time to clean their patients’ teeth and chat to help them feel relaxed. By socializing with them, they are able to create good relationships, she said.
By creating positive relationships they all can feel like they are part of a family, Reidell said.
“I like helping them change the way they look at teeth,” she said.
It is like a mini makeover when they get work done, she said.
