Econo Lodge looking for busy year

Sitting at the east end of the busy Golden Strip in Loyalsock Township, the Econo Lodge is well positioned as a stop-off point for travelers and visitors to the local area.

Bill Zuber, assistant general manager, said he’s looking forward to a busy year after coming off a successful last quarter of 2017.

Plans are well under way to continue to make a stay at the Econo Lodge at 2019 E. Third St., Williamsport, a pleasant experience for its guests.

“We are in the middle of renovating rooms,” he said.

Carpets are being removed from units and replaced with luxury vinyl tiles, and the main lobby will undergo cosmetic changes.

The Econo Lodge is comprised of 100 rooms in two buildings.

While travelers make up a big portion of the motel’s business, many people employed in the natural gas industry and other jobs stay at the Econo Lodge too, according to Zuber.

“Our main guests are the working guys,” he said. “In the summer, we get more travelers.”

Prices are very competitive with respect to the overall motel market, according to Zuber.

“We are an economy market brand,” he said.

Econo Lodge, along with the nearby Liberty Lodge, is owned by the Liberty Hospitality Group, .

“I like to feel we have a really great staff,” Zuber said. “These people get it with customer service.”

Guests can take advantage of various amenities including a continental breakfast, fitness center, on-site laundry services, and rooms offering refrigerators and WiFi connections.

Hana restaurant, serving Asian cuisine, is located adjacent to the motel, offering discounts to guests.

Once a month, guests are feted with an on-site party featuring free food and drinks.

“We like to provide as much value as we can,” Zuber said.

Econo Lodge is part of Choice Privileges, a loyalty program allowing guests to earn bonus points toward free nights, gift cards and other rewards.

Over the years, the motel has established a good working relationship with the local business community.

Motel guests are often referred to a local restaurant or entertainment spot. Numerous eateries, shops and other commercial venues are located just minutes away.

Zuber said Williamsport is simply a good market for Econo Lodge.

People looking for a place to say in the area often find the motel through the Internet and on sites such as Expedia and Yelp.

Little League week in late August, when williamsport is transformed into an international destination spot, is usually the busiest time for the motel.

The Drum Corps Associates World Championships, set for Labor Day Weekend in Williamsport on the heels of Little League, is expected to bring plenty of more guests.

“We are very hopeful,” Zuber said.
