2 dead in crash

TOWANDA – An elderly couple were killed in a two-vehicle crash near here on Wednesday.

According to state police, an 82-year-old male driver and his 80-year-old female passenger, both of New Albany, died when their 2003 Chevrolet Blazer was struck by another vehicle as it attempted to turn onto Route 6 from Steam Hollow Road in West Burlington Township.

State police said the deceased driver pulled into the path of a 2002 Mack flatbed truck operated by Ronald Robinson, 68, of New Albany, which was traveling west, and the truck hit the driver’s side door of the Blazer.

The names of the two victims will be released upon notification of next of kin, police said.
