City adds 2 officers

The city is adding two more police officers to the department complement, bringing it from 47 up to 49.

Brittany Alexander, of Lock Haven, and Eric Derr, of Jersey Shore, are trained and ready for service, according to Gregory A. Foresman, city police chief.

Foresman introduced the two police hires to City Council Thursday night.

He anticipates them to be working starting on Feb. 4.

The department expects to lose another officer to mandatory retirement by September, Foresman said.

Patrolman Brian Aldinger turns age 60 in September and is required to leave the department.

“We may look at hiring again prior to Aldinger’s mandatory retirement,” Foresman said.

Mayor Gabriel J. Campana, director of public safety, said he authorized the hirings of Alexander and Derr to meet the budgeted complement of 49 officers for the year.
