Municipal, school board seats up for grabs this year

Lycoming County voters will have a say this year in deciding who will serve on boards representing their school districts and municipalities.

Otherwise, 2013 does not represent a big election year featuring closely watched races.

Statewide, Superior Court Judge is up for election.

The only county office up for election this year is for the four-year sheriff position.

Three city council seats are up for grabs in Williamsport, each for four years.

One six-year term supervisor seat is open in each of the county’s townships.

The county’s 10 boroughs will have elections for mayor and four-year council seats.

Open council seats are as follows:

DuBoistown, four seats.

Hughesville 1, two seats.

Hughesville 2, one seat.

Jersey Shore, four seats.

Montgomery, four seats.

Montoursville, three seats.

Muncy, three seats.

Picture Rocks, four seats.

Salladasburg, two seats.

South Williamsport, four seats.

Four-year term school board seats will be open in the following districts:

East Lycoming

Region One, two seats.

Region Two, one seat.

Region Three, one seat.

Jersey Shore

Region Three, one seat.

Region Four, one seat.

Region Eight, one seat.

Region Nine, one seat.

Loyalsock Township

Four seats.

Elections also could be held for vacant seats in municipalities and school districts created by resignations, according to Sandy Adams, director of Lycoming County Voter Services.

She noted that the list for contested seats remains unofficial at this time.

The primary election is set for May 21.

The general election will be Nov. 5.
