Dorothy R. White: Today’s candidate

Dorothy “Dottie” R. White, of Loyalsock Township, has announced her intention to seek the Republican nomination for a fifth term as Loyalsock Township tax collector in the May primary.

She was elected as tax collector in 1998 and has served as president of the Lycoming County Association of Tax Collectors since 1999.

She has been a member of the State Association of Tax Collectors since 1998 and is District V representative. She was appointed as state convention chairwoman beginning 2013 and has taught tax collector classes for the State Association of Township Supervisors.

She was appointed in 2002 by Loyalsock Township and the Loyalsock Township School District to collect business privilege, license and local services taxes. She has been a director on the Pennsylvania Business Privilege and Mercantile Tax Collectors Association Board since 2005.

She formerly was manager of inventory control for Williamsport Wirerope Works and was an independent contractor for Bethlehem Wire Rope before its sale to Williamsport Wirerope Works.

Earlier employment included manufacturing manager for GTE Fiber Optic Products on Reach Road and ITT Fiber-Optic Products in Roanoke, Va.

White is a licensed Realtor and was a director of the Lycoming County Board of Realtors.

She holds a degree in business administration from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, N.J., and has pursued additional studies in business, human resources, accounting and computer programming, from the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Penn State University and Lycoming College.

She is a member of the Williamsport Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and was Business Associate of the Year in 2008; former board member and secretary of The Wyrope Credit Union and a charter member of the Loyalsock Garden Club. She is a member of the board of governors at the Community Arts Center and the Joint Accounting and Legal Advisory Committee for Penn College.

She is a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and Women’s Guild.
