Muncy board hears about student activities
MUNCY – The Muncy School District’s principals reported on student activities at Monday night’s school board meeting.
Junior-Senior High School Principal Tim Welliver told the board of several history classes talking with U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Atlanta, via the Internet recently.
“It was a neat experience for these kids from little Muncy,” Welliver said. “There was action on the House floor, so Lewis was talking to his aides as he was talking to our kids.”
Myers Elementary principal Frank Jankowski reported on the recent and upcoming PSSA testing sessions going on at his school. “We really emphasized effort on the writing tests,” he said. “On April 4 we’re going to have an academic pep rally.”
The board voted to approve the 2013-14 calendar. School starts on Aug. 22.
Superintendent Dr. Portia Brandt said Business Manager David Edkin will present the first look at the 2013-14 budget at its April 15 meeting.
