Savoy, Probasco to be honored at Israel Bond Dinner

Virgil Probasco and Carol A. Savoy will receive the Lion of Judah Award during the Central Pennsylvania State of Israel Bonds Dinner on April 14 at the Community Arts Center.

Probasco is retired as executive vice president of Wirerope Works Inc., Williamsport.

He was chairman of the Lycoming County United Way in 2011 and 2012.

He served as a Marine in the Vietnam War, receiving numerous medals for exemplary service.

Savoy is owner and president of John Savoy and Son Inc., Montoursville.

She is president of John Savoy Realty Co. Inc. and John Savoy and Carol A. Savoy Realty Inc., commercial real estate developers.

Recipient of the Pennsylvania College of Technology 2011 Alumni of the Year Award, she has served on the Lycoming Foundation Board of Trustees, YMCA Capital Campaign Committee, First Community Foundation grant panel, and the board of governors of the Community Arts Center.

Guest speaker for the event will be Sgt. Benjamin Anthony, a combat veteran and reservist in the Israel Defense Forces.

He established the non-profit organization, Our Soldiers Speak, to allow Israeli forces the chance to talk about their battle experiences.

A graduate of the University of Manchester, he lectures on campuses across North America, the United Kingdom and South Africa.

A musical program will be presented by the Bloomsburg University Husky Singers.
