Family Promise dinner to show appreciation for volunteers

Family Promise of Lycoming County, the consortium of 14 area churches that hosts up to four families in need of housing at a time, will hold its third annual Celebration Dinner June 1, at First United Methodist Church’s Christian Life Center, 601 Market St.

“We’ll be presenting awards to all the volunteers of the year from each of the churches,” Melissa Magargle, Family Promise executive director, said. “Each church honors one particular person – we don’t think it’s fair out of 14 churches to pick just one volunteer.”

Two former guests of Family Promise will speak to the group, and music will be performed by members of the Uptown Music Collective.

“We just want to give back to those who have given so much, not only of their time, but their money and talents,” Magargle said. “So many people are giving to this organization, we wanted to in some way give back a little bit and say thank you.”

Tickets are $12 and there is an option of vegetable or meat lasagna.
