Streets to be repaved

Montoursville Borough Council gave final approval for a Community Development Block Grant streets reconstruction project during its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

The borough may receive up to $84,548 for the work, which could include repaving and curbing and sidewalk upgrades, for parts of Bennett and Pine streets.

Projects eligible for CDBG funding can be for infrastructure improvements, recreation and to remove blight.

In other matters, council hired Brown’s Landscape, of Unityville, to mow Indian Park this year. Brown’s bid of $500 per mowing was the lowest among several bids submitted for the work.

The price reflects a slight decrease from what the borough had been paying another firm to mow the park prior to 2013.

Council voted to apply for $4,305 in aid from Lycoming County. The funding is to be used for street work and related needs.
