Wolf Township buys backhoe
HUGHESVILLE – Wolf Township supervisors approved the purchase of a new backhoe for the next winter snow season at their meeting Monday night.
With the trade-in of an old backhoe to C.H. Waltz Sons, of Cogan Station, the new backhoe will cost the township $39,974.
“The new one should be here by December,” Supervisor Charlie Hall said. “The old one isn’t a great-looking machine because we use it in salt, but it doesn’t have a lot of hours on it. We won’t have to spend $5,000 to put new tires on (the old one) this way.”
In other business, supervisors also approved putting some new wiring in the township building.
“We were looking at doing a full modernization project for this building, but then we would have to use the prevailing wage,” said Melanie McCoy, secretary/treasurer. “That would triple the price, and I don’t think the taxpayers would be very happy about that.”
